Developed at Augusta-related facilities, it was based on the late-production GM and designed as a data collector to enhance the combat effectiveness of the Earth Federation Forces’ GM series.With its superior performance and versatile frame, the GM Dominance contributed valuable operating data that influenced the development of advanced Federation mobile suits, including the RGM-79SP GM Sniper II and RGM-79G GM Command. Its design philosophy also drew inspiration from other high-specification mobile suits of the time, such as the RGM-79SC GM Sniper Custom and FA-78-1 Full Armor Gundam.
