This kit includes specialized parts that converts your Gundam Exia into the Astraea variant, as featured in Mobile Suit Gundam 00P—a novel by Tomohiro Chiba, originally serialized in Dengeki Hobby Magazine.Developed by Celestial Being’s Krung Thep engineering team in AD 2292, the Gundam Astraea was one of four second-generation Gundams created using the GN-000 0 Gundam as a base. These units served as testbeds for advanced weaponry and equipment, undergoing rigorous live combat evaluations to refine Celestial Being’s armed intervention strategies. The Astraea was the first of these Gundams to be completed, named after the Goddess of Justice, a theme reflected in the organization’s unwavering ideology. Like its counterparts, it follows the tradition of tarot-inspired naming conventions among second-generation Gundams. While visually similar to the 0 Gundam, the Astraea was far more advanced, designed as a general-purpose mobile suit with significantly improved baseline performance. Its primary function was the testing and refinement of experimental weaponry, ranging from standard armaments like the GN Beam Rifle and GN Shield to specialized equipment such as the GN Launcher. The Astraea’s successful trials played a crucial role in the eventual development of the GN-001 Gundam Exia. To support modular weapons testing, the Astraea was equipped with hardpoints on its forearms and legs, allowing for interchangeable loadouts powered by GN Condensers embedded throughout the suit.A key feature of the Astraea was its unique power distribution system, directly linked to its torso-mounted GN Drive. This system could be accessed by removing one or both of the clavicle antennae near its neck, allowing attached weapons to receive GN Particles with top priority. However, this feature came at a cost—since the clavicle antennae were essential for GN Particle manipulation, enabling radar jamming, electromagnetic interference, and fine-tuned system controls, their removal compromised these capabilities. Compared to later-generation Gundams, the Astraea’s clavicle antennae were less refined, producing significant interference with GN Particle emissions. To counteract this, the suit’s forehead antennae were downsized, while enhanced cheek-mounted antennae were installed to minimize disruptions. As the precursor to the Gundam Exia, the Astraea played a pivotal role in Celestial Being’s technological evolution. Its contributions in weapons testing and combat simulations shaped the future of GN-based mobile suits, making it an essential stepping stone toward the third-generation Gundams that would change the course of history.
