Gundam Tops Dragon Ball and One Piece in Latest Financial Results

Bandai Namco’s official financial report for the first quarter of the 2026 fiscal year confirms a major shift among its top franchises. Mobile Suit Gundam has outperformed both Dragon Ball and One Piece in Q1 IP sales, marking one of the strongest showings in the series’ history.For the April–June period, Gundam recorded 65.4 billion yen (about 432 million USD) in revenue, more than double One Piece at 32.8 billion yen (216 million USD) and well ahead of Dragon Ball at 26.5 billion yen (175 million USD). This represents an 81% increase year-over-year, as Gundam’s Q1 sales in FY2025 stood at 36.1 billion yen.Gundam’s growth is driven by strong demand for GunPla model kits, steady digital content performance, and recent media releases including Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX, and the on going GWX 30th Anniversary Project. The franchise’s expansion across both domestic and international markets underscores its widening appeal and collector-driven demand.Gundam has recently expanded into new territory with the launch of the Gundam Trading Card Game, which made its worldwide debut to strong reception. The success of the TCG has added a fresh revenue stream while extending the franchise’s influence beyond model kits and video games. Looking ahead, Bandai Namco is preparing to release Gundam Assemble, the franchise’s first-ever miniature tabletop game, slated for next year. Positioned as one of the most anticipated projects in the lineup, it is expected to further solidify Gundam’s momentum and growth.Looking at Bandai Namco’s full-year plan, Gundam is projected to remain in the lead, with an expected 160.0 billion yen (around 1.06 billion USD) in IP sales. Dragon Ball is forecast at 150.0 billion yen (about 990 million USD), while One Piece is targeted at 140.0 billion yen (approximately 920 million USD).Just a year earlier, Dragon Ball still held the top spot with 190.6 billion yen compared to Gundam’s 153.5 billion yen and One Piece’s 139.5 billion yen. These results highlight Gundam’s sharp upward trajectory and suggest the franchise could close the fiscal year as Bandai Namco’s most valuable IP.
